Our Mission:
Facts on PET is a coordinated effort to provide accurate information on one of the most common types of plastic, polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Our message is simple: PET is globally recognized as a safe, recyclable packaging material.
The Challenge:
In recent months, governments in Canada and the United States have moved to limit or ban the use of bisphenol-A (BPA). BPA is compound used in polycarbonate products and the lining of cans from food containers. Media reports surrounding the BPA controversy have incorrectly suggested that all types of plastic water bottles contain BPA. We have been taking steps to dispel any misconceptions linking single-serve PET bottles and BPA.
Currently, campaigns in Canada and the United States are also portraying the manufacture and disposal of PET plastic bottles as harmful to the environment. In fact, PET bottles are safe, recyclable and consumer-friendly. Facts on PET supports any initiative to increase the recycling rate of PET and other recyclable products.
Join Our Group:
We have undertaken an educational campaign to communicate the facts about PET and we encourage others in the industry to join our mission. As a member you will receive regular PET news updates, be informed of upcoming media outreach opportunities and will be equipped with the latest resources and information to educate and advocate on behalf of the PET industry.
Participation can range from:
